Black Friday Mayhem
One day after people gather to celebrate life, togetherness, and family…it begins. Creeping slowly upon us like a thick fog rolling in from the lake. That’s right Corndoggers, you’ve guessed it…Black Friday. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, Black Friday refers to the shopping day immediately after Thanksgiving which is generally the single biggest retail shopping day of the year for stores. Most stores open at an ungodly hour in the morning (some at 5am) and promote sales for those eager early shoppers which are commonly referred to as as “door buster sales”. Many American shoppers are drawn to these promotions like shark to an injured prey. The stores themselves chum the waters with all their advertisements only adding to the feeding frenzy of American consumerism mania. Inevitably, every year someone ends up getting hurt or killed by stampeding deal shoppers and 2008 was no exception. Seriously, if Spain thinks their running of the bulls is scary and deadly….tourists from around the world should flock to the United States for Black Friday and stand at the front of the line outside a Walmart and run for their lives as the clerks open the doors. Will you ever catch the Corndogger standing outside a store at 5am waiting to rush in like some mindless zombie? Hell to the no. Do you know why?
