The famous Seattle Space Needle. Seattle’s architectural tribute to cheesy science fiction films depicting alien flying saucers. Contrary to what the name may lead you to believe (and popular believe from rural New Mexico), it is neither a needle nor is it from space. It was built in 1962 for the World’s Fair and is one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. It is located right in downtown Seattle and being one of the tallest structures in the city does provide a great vantage point to view the surrounding area.
